I’m dry, as are my shoes and pants….a minor miracle, for which I’m very grateful…screw the ants in the toaster over…’medium high’ and they’re toast….Lex Cargo…where the hell were you? thankfully, the very delicious Aida Aguilar was there, back from five days in NYC…and dishing dirt on a certain anthropologist who’s speaking at the Maya Cosmo Vision thing this weekend at Santa Domingo…who knew?
Matteo and his beautiful wife sitting in Casbah upstairs, outside on the patio..very good taste in women, is all I can say…Reillys? moderate action, Ryan behind the bar..this town has a wierd flow: Sabe Rico, down on 6th Ave Sur…tables full, Chez Christophe, ever so tastefully decorated, empty…Cafe Dos Mil..jammed with sports nuts from the hostels(El Gato Negro et al) Canoa? ghost town..Caffe Bourbon, lo mismo..ah..Ocelot and the appearance of the newly arrived band Tierra Madre…more like Tierra Madre Chingado…the flautist, the dwarf that plays the flute…lured away by Alex of Sobremesa and was a no-show for this evening’s so-called performance…these guys can’t even start on time. Mary of Skin Deep was at the bar, dressed to kill..Elle? no idea where she is…but not at El Muro..I have a hunch this will be a less than good period of time for John..but he’s got the bar to focus on. Queso y Vino? busy, with body guards in the street, waiting for their patrons to eat…Happy Father’s Day to one and all…unless you’ve had a vasectomy, in which case it ain’t happening.
Hector? in town and making big changes in his life: after opening a restaurant in Joco, buffing it out and spending a lot of $$$…he came to the conclusion that it’s more than he wants to bite off…so..it’s for sale..in his own words, he’s a ‘motivated seller’…$15K invested and he’s open to offers..trade, exchange, finance…I’ve seen the location and for the right person, it would work. He’s come to the realization that there’s only so many hours in the day and he’d like a ‘life’ again..I couldn’t agree more.
