get this…I’m stunned, shell-shocked and whatever else you can think of…I’ve just heard the best music I’ve heard in years…ok, a disclaimer…if you like Cuban music, then we’re talkin’ here…Ignacio and his Cuban All Star Band…you know, those guys who play Panza Verde and Los Arcos…and then they/he breaks off and adds Aniet, the soviet blonde on flute…the one with the jealous boyfriend and they do Ocelot…well…the overdue Cuban violinist?…fucking killer virtuoso, great moves…Ocelot rocked big time…people dancing in the patio, the hall and where ever..
this is like being in Havana…El Gato Tueto, Dos Gardenias, take your pick..playing Tuesdays and Saturday night…miss this and you’re missing the best…’ducked out at half time, up the street to the fund raiser for FotoKids..talked with McFarland, the US Ambassador, his wife, the Consul, Kay(love her husband, the ever wacky Ralph) Mary Lou Ridinger, the very tasty Brenda and Scott S…who, I didn’t know, was with Henrik in Peru in Nazi-ville…what a fucking story…and thence back to Ocelot for more of the Cuban magic…i confess, they made me cry…so very very fucking great…Aniet, the Soviet Blonde, was blowing flute like never before, Ignacio singing/playing the congas like never before…this is magic…Ixcot…dead on arrival, the very tasty Ms A…her son is working there..he’s a trip and i enjoy his action/moves…he can find a job anywhere in town…he’s got that magic..is it cold? hello!…the Cuban violinist’ name? he wrote it for for me…looks like Hugo C’R’V..z….Hugo Chavez, el presidente de Valenzuela? nah…dude can’t write for shit, like i can write for shit..popped into the new GuateMundo or whatever the fuck it is…the old Fusion joint…dozen people at the bar…wierd opening but its open…i like their decor…
so…its late and think i’m hungry…hectors? no..da vinci…door closed…zaika up the street? ok…open, ten people..hey, good crowd for a saturday night in a weird location..i order and have a glass of wine..oops..the order didn’t get noticed…fine..bianca the tasty and enrique and i shoot the breeze..home, safe and sound…well, safe…the cuban music? it was a night of magic…the violinist made the group go to new heights of professionalism…rocked out…huge…tuesdays and saturdays…don’t miss this one..I know where I’l be Tuesday and Saturday nights from now on…Sobremesa packed…Reilly’s packed..the rest of upper 5th dead…Chocolulu in where Ricardo’s Tabacos y Vinos used to be…WTF?…what a night…i give up..hasta la pasta
