helluva Sunday….Boy Scouts in the park, Sol Latino cranking out their best music…Firefighters marching in and getting a crowd…even an art show…the painting of the blonde with the cha-chas didn’t sell…A VW club/car exhibition that took up two blocks of 5th norte? folks in their club jackets/shirts…all good except for the plastic version of a VW Thing…I’da been embarrassed to bring a replica to a car show but this is Guatemala…Peter The G had a VW Thing for sale a while back…whatever happened to it?
Reilly’s Pub Quiz transferred to Ocelot…and successfully so..preceded by Wayne Hooper and his All Stars…great jazz…the pianist was superb and the guy on the xylophone? plays with the national marimba orchestra, at the national palace(good) Nelson and Karla in attendence…Wendy W and parents…Ixcot? some biz…even Ignacio of Cuban fame stopped in to listen, as did Ron the sax player..
Frank of Nim Pot happy about getting the cover of La Cuadra, a piece inside and the back cover? check this for me…it was late…Angie’s Angle is xlnt…tomorrow? off to the Railroad Museum in the City… finish off this month’s assignments and get cranking on a long El Salvador piece. Ocelot’s becoming the center of entertainment for the city…the music is drawing people in, night and day…if Wayne Hooper does take off for NYC, the band…not, a band..the two back-up musicians remain in the city…and are available for work here..Karla would be a natural replacement..perhaps even better. Time well tell…I love this town…
