Thursday nights are usually a mixed bag in A town but one thing you can count on is Nelson at the keyboard…some nights he’s on fire and last night was one of those times..’walked around a bit…Caz Italiano doin’ moderate biz and La Esquina!…was i wrong about seeing Lou a few weeks ago, more punked out than usual?..whatever, she and Eduardo have a new thing goin’ on..Thursday night movies in what is the nicest venue in town…they punched out a hole in the back wall a few months ago, for musicians/stage plays: now there’s a movie screen and with the patio plus comfortable seating…hey, it works..La Sala quiet, the Argentinian Steak House doin’ groups…the latest influx of visitors appear to be ‘groupies’ and they eat in shifts..dos Reilly’s quiet, Henrik slipping out at 8:30 or so. I’da thought that the Black Cat crowd would cross the street but no…once in, they never leave..I’m thinking it’s the same ol ‘critical mass’ concept, space-wise..
El Caminante’s breakfast is really close to perfection…none of the frijoles/queso/tomato sauce routine and only 25q, plus all the orange juice you can swill/spill..ditch the Bimbo white bread for toast…maybe something wheat/grain…good brand/choices for jam…newspapers..and better lighting(had to open all the doors just to read El Diario) Rico definitely knows how to do hashbrowns/potato lattkes et al..put him on the grill in the morning and see what happens..Eric Stone is still in the hospital, busted up in several places..motos/cobblestones/alcohol? ‘thought i’d been a victim of the latest ATM scam…no…just a few dumb moves in San Salvador and a twitchy ATM there..and after having had two of the best cheeseburgers ever, one in Leon and the other in San Juan Del Sur, the quest for something similar here goes on..why Nicaragua and not here? Jimmy Three Fingers in Granada serves up the best bbq/filet combo since ‘Vegas/SF..o well…maybe Epicure has a hidden rack of lamb in their freezer today…
