‘ran into Michael Tallon at Bodegona, perusing the cheap…no, the moderately priced wine section…do not try this stuff, except for paint removal..
kinda like that Guate brand of whiskey, “Old Friend”, of which i had a brief acquaintance with some time ago in Xela..the first pint was okay…#2..not bad…#3, a mistake…
‘ran into Peter Hodge, Lisa-Marie and their friend Alison(Allyson?) at the O’lot…’still on crutches (Peter) and still doing the fresh fish runs to various restaurants in town (only the best)but the even better news….the Salty Beaver Lodge will have overnight rooms in a month…figure around March 4, per Peter..’heard back from another Peter (the G) why i haven’t seen a certain chef at El Caminante lately…’cuz he’s gone…where/when/why? another Antigua mystery, without any clues..alas, he ‘ coulda been a contendah’ speaking of contenders, for the best foot massage, probably the best I’ve ever had…Carmen Fuentes and her salon Creativo…2nd calle, east of 4th ave..call it age, call it mean old Mr Gravity but the cobblestones/rocks of our streets have wreaked havoc on my tootsies, first the left and then the right..streets! Shaun Griffith (Ocelot’s parapatetic wandering camera guy)has shot some great footage (see, it all relates) of Antigua’s streets..yeah, its bumpy, amateur but it’s perfect for those of our faraway friends to see just why we ended up here…more, por favor! this could be great ‘gotcha’ stuff, like the bit about the El Paso Bar…bust in on Lex some night at the Cargo Room..minor drum roll….Yahoo/AC just bought another three installments of the Nicaraguan trip a few weeks ago…I think there’s another 5 or so waiting for editorial approval: this should just about cover my Flor de Cana expenditures..yep, bought a ticket for the Steve James gig on March 3rd..a lady friend who’s in the travelin’/guitar pickin’ and singin’ biz..says he’s one of the best…E’s talking about a road trip to el Mirador..not the local rooftop scene of recent debauchery involving bed linens…the other one, where you ride in on asses…no..mules…mules..jackasses? we’ve got our quota here, thank you…
one last parting note…Alex of Sobremesa (why do I always think of AA when i see the sign?) is this close to opening the ice cream shop on 4th avenida(across from Riki’s)
