a very slow Wednesday night, except for Dos Reilly’s…a wandering band of gringos found their door way…is that a new bar/restaurant a few doors up? Los Personajes? …’walked in…big space…hey, new to me but then a lot of things are…4th calle virtually a dead zone, except for Fusion…El Caz doing biz, as is/was Pangea…Luna Miel unusually slow but Caffe Opera? dead but the most xlnt Adan on piano, pounding and tickling the old upright in the corner(not me, the piano) Robto de Oro and Barb at O’lot, the most superb Lisa at the bar…great idea from Barb: want a cheap ocean voyage? go to the cruise ship terminal in Puerto Quetzal and make a deal with one of the cruise lines…either at the office or with the purser…’gotta have some vacant rooms, going for a song..go down the coast…Costa Rica, Panama..get off or keep on going…hmmm…if this works (and it should) i may give it a whack..the Masquerade Ball last night? well attended but very very few of the Old Guard…as in from last years or the preceding birthday party for Uwe…’not sure what this means but at least it was an event and not a flop.
Whiskey Den’s new signs are up…hand carved with wood chisels…very tasty…no word on Craig the Scot…guess the ankle/surgery is still going on..Nelson at a lightly filled Caffe Bourbon…’just an overall light night for the restaurant/bar biz…hey, it happens…minor personal discovery…Ron Botran’s 12 year is very very similar to Flor de Canas 7 year…which I can’t find here…back to writing tomorrow…twas a biz day…stand in line at this bank and then go stand in line at another bank(memo to self: take a book) Shaun’s clutch went out tonight…no, actually it failed..a spring or the hydraulic system…sound like my medical history…
you know it’s a slow day/night when photos are used..my IRS problems are on hold…if you see me nabbed in the park one day, you know what happened..the move of the American Legion library to their new quarters next to the Jardin Bavaria is almost done…how they crammed 30000 books into that space is a miracle akin to ‘loaves and fishes’…but…having a bar/restaurant next door is a very good thing…a brewski and a book..why not? go by and give ’em a 100q for a year’s dues: open to all, not just AL people and open 7 days a week and it beats the hell outa buying used books around town..tell ’em Groucho sent you..kinda how I feel today…if I were Argentinian would I be Groucho the Gaucho? see what I mean?
