(an obscure gringo phrase referring to liquor bottles)…’ran into Robin Haas on 4th ave norte…my barrio..’turns out he lives around the corner(more or less)and i thought this was a low rent neighborhood..’observed one of our more prominent gringos ‘in consultation’ with his attorney today(2nd time in a month)…where there’s smoke, is there heat? chatted with Sarah Graham about ‘stuff’…she agrees with me that there’s some weird vibrations goin’ around town…people-stuff, business-stuff..I’m seein’ signs of nervousness here and there…ads missing here/there, cut-backs, houses for sale…hey, if it all turns to mierda…i DO live in an indian restaurant..what was that dish I used to make? curried chicken!…rice, coconut milk, curry powder plus other stuff..nope, ‘secret recipe’…as if there’s any demand for indian grub in this town. From what Lava reported for the weekend, over 200(per Jason, 180) burgers sold,it would appear that they’ve got the handle on that market…flowers dropped off for ‘what’s her face’…birthday card also…full service gentlemen stuff..’think i’m having lunch later with ……..
ah, here’s some weirdness..per KG, Antigua is on the verge of declaring large parts of the center to be car-free….park out in the boondocks, shuttle in/out…she claimed the source to be a ‘government’ person…’hopefully not those impeccable sources such as INGUAT. Sobremesa closed til/thru Wednesday…not sure about the ice cream place but one of the hardest working guys in town taking a much needed break. And, yes another deli opening, flying in the face of Deliciosa’s recent departure…4th ave sur, next to Canis and before Cafe Flor….let’s see…Abbasi, hosting Nelson and then Ignacio: who’s next? hey…belly dancers! hordes of them…i could use a few, myself…light the incense, do the dance of the Seven Veils, then six, five, four etc..Hare Hare, Rama Rama ding dong..more later…i’m scraping the barrel here. And I’m still in shock over the closing of the Salty Beaver….’heard that there’s some ‘action’ regarding a sale or something..who knows? solve the transportation issue, throw in some $$$ and build on the beginnings of what was one of my favorites.
later….4th of july? all fizzle, no sizzle…a rainy night in A-Town…quiet, dead, streets empty..DV dead, Chez C doing tables..F2, Alex and Mom in a corner and the place was half full..Abbasi? half full and i love the red lamps..reminds me of the new digs..Peter the G and El Cam? reporting an insane weekend and having a quiet night with kids/lady friend..door closed…el muro? max at the helm and hiring a new bartenderess..french girl, who supposedly worked in a bikini bar in NYC…let’s keep abreast of things, eh? Shaun/Jason, toting up the weekend numbers…helluva lot of burgers out the door, no matter how you count ’em..709, the mex place next to F2? great antiques, zero customers for the grub..given the space/location/decorations one would assume that the pockets are deep..as in the ever inexplicable Sangre…how long will they eat the negative? where the hell is Murray? last i heard, he’d taken back a big note…hope the hell they’re making payments on it…nice lunch with one of my favorite women at Epicure…thanks, John…why were the banks closed today? or at least,Banco Industrial, my outlet for fast cash and the source of moldy currency.
