yeah..’had the appointment at Sophos, the largest bookstore in the City but set for 3pm…my ride left A-Town at 9:30 and in the big bad city by 10:30…a stop at Nomex for a bbq thing…no avail, gonzo, sold out…11am…Z-10…found the bookstore, walked my ass off, sweated…3pm? yes! sales! Our Man in Antigua is now in the largest bookstore in the City….whoop te doo, I know…hey, little things get me goin’..jeez, the City…cross the intersections at your own peril…the City women? spectacular…
and my compatriots laughed when I said I was looking for a croquet set…hey, I live on a superbly trimmed finca with just enough lawn space for a croquet lay-out…eat your hearts out, ok? some Ramos Gin Fizzes, a Sunday morning and ? the bbq thng? its called a ‘chimney’…a tube of light metal, like a section of stove pipe, with a wooden handle…load the charcoal in the top, stuff a piece of newspaper in the paper and lite it off..the draft moves upward and ignites the coals..maybe the folks in the mercado can fashion one for me..
Mr Will!…www.willgetyouin.com places students from Guatemala into MAJOR universities in the US….who knew? its a friggin’ miracle…more to follow, once I come down from today..segue-way…I live next to the Antigua Tennis Club, aka the Club Antigueno…from the courts I hear…”Out!” “Fault!”…it’s like being married again..:Fault!”…”Out!”…and no “Love”….ah, marriage…like a bath…after a while, its not so hot…
so..no local news tonight…I’m whipped, dipped and thoroughly glad to be home and outa the City…and thank you again, Robto De Oro, for the little ear-bud hearing aid..it works, kind of and especially with classical music (go figure)..us old farts gotta stick together..jeez, 68 in a month? what’s it gonna be like being 69? “High, I’m 69?” so? so what?…’wanna go do something?”..thanks, again..to all of my supporters(some of the athletic variety)for the kind comments on the little booklet, now in its 5th version of the 2nd Edition…’couldn’t have done it without you..25 places in Antigua, three 5 star reviews on Amazon.com and another on the original publisher, www.smashwords. com/books/view/114724 and I promise to update that version(now that i have $$) to pay for the re-formatting..(dont’ ask)..there’s half a bottle of Gordon’s Gin, a splendid cuban cigar known as San Cristobal and a sandwich from Epicure awaiting…my life is complete..
