and it could be any of us…for me, this week it’s been two people that I care about. My 94 yr old mom fell and broke an arm/elbow…fortunately she has friends and nurses around, so she’s back home, pinned and healing as best one can.
the other is a local friend of similar age and condition…who fell down the stairs last week, broke a hip, and now is hospitalized in a local place, awaiting surgery for a new ‘ball in the socket’…courage, as once defined by Hemingway, is grace under pressure and although I visit daily, I don’t think I would/could be handling this situation as well..yeah, there’s nice medications but there’s also less than swell surroundings.
Having worked in a few hospitals, know that they all depress me: this particular one isn’t bad…Nacional Hospital in San Felipe…so, if I’m not out and about nightly or if you pass me on the street and I seem preoccupied…nobody else is visiting, except the too busy ex-wife…once in a while..it could happen to any of us, the life-changing accident…be careful out there, have one for me but…go listen to some music, see some people playing who are leaving soon, have a drink or two. I don’t feel like it…my pal needs new books and bottles of water, etc..tomorrow.
