she was an elegant older lady who walked with a certain grace….she had shiny black hair, dark brown eyes and a shy quiet demeanor. She died this morning. It wasn’t expected but she had aged recently. Nothing overt but there was a sense of loss and sadness that was new and by noon she was gone. Tonight her shallow grave, in the corner of the finca we call the camposanto has another mound. There are fresh picked flowers and two small candles flicker in the twilight. i won’t have to worry about the fireworks making her heart beat too fast nor the classical music that I played for her when it all got to be too much. The leftovers from the bbq will go to the remaining mutt, the young Rottweiler. Her sister and littermate left us in November but that was expected…Kayla’s abrupt departure today wasn’t. She had class, grace and style, virtues all too rare in this rough and tumble world. I’ll miss her. She was, after all, 84…12X7…dogyears
