central park fulla folks and the faux andean foursome set up…what happened to the big guy? he’d play the park on Saturdays and then up by the Arch on Sundays….sort of like what happened with the marimba folks from Kakchikel? with the two small boys that would dance for tips? I know, nothing stays the same, not here..
Micho’s changing their hours of operation….shrinking them…and yes, yet another Mexican food joint op-en…Las Tamarindos, across from Bodegona on 5th calle, a few doors down from what was La Pena Del Sol….their old wooden sign gone, replaced by a big piece of paper with ‘La Pena del Sol’ written on it…doesn’t look good, y’a know…..and the streets fulla people today…ice cream, as always, the food of choice…and dogs? lotta dogs, on leashes, more than usual…wtf?
Joe Lada left us this week(for a little while)shrinking the local live music pool by even more…Nelson’s getting gigs in the City, so who’s left? Mercedes at O’lot on Wed or Thursdays, the Snug is featuring various groups 2 or 3 nights a week…Travel Menu’s new look is great..Christophe has a hand in the preparation of the meat offerings on Thur/Sundays..yeah, like the art exposition at 6 today, 1st ave sur, I missed it…my sunday nap, y’know that and the skies that look like rain tonight…that, and the blender had some leftover daiquiri mix in it…waste not, want not, you know..is Nazi John still in town? i ran into him last week, at Bodo, shopping with his new sweetie….yeah, she’s cute..a new slogan for tourists….’Come to Antigua\ and find love!” for a day, or weekend or ?
nah, I’m not being cynical, as usual…I think it’s great…every so often there’s a lady or two, in the park, who appears to be looking for ‘company’…and she usually finds it..they’re usually dressed nicer than is called for and they sit alone, in the proximity(view)of the ‘gringo’ bench’…look, I’m just observing, ok?
and what do the Mayas and locals think when they see faux hippies walking around, barefoot? tis the 2nd time this month I’ve seen ’em…and wondered “WTF are they thinking of?” bare feet, cobble stones, Guatemala? even the ubiquitous shower shoes/flip-flops are a step up…then again, I’m just an old fart who walks a few miles every day..ok, where’s the blender? it looks like it’s ‘Daiquiri Time’ for me, yet again..save the tootsies and the boot leather, I say…
