So? ‘scattered July 4th events here and there…La Taverna, Joe’s Grill and today, I think, is the annual Democrats Abroad event…if it were Democrats with Broads, I might go(probably not)…I’m told that the US Embassy is trying to find out if there are any Republican groups that ‘do’ the 4th…there doesn’t seem to be any, at least not around Antigua. Why not? there’s gotta be SOME Republicans around: are they just not motivated?
a bit of a fracas last night, outside of Reilly’s….man down, bomberos there..wtf? and welcome back, Carla B, to the bar business…she’s working both Fusion and La Calle. She and a couple of other ‘hospitality/service industry’ people have the right ideas about ‘marketing’ and stirring up business. Travel Menu and Pappy’s BBQ come to mind and they’re surely wrapping up that part of town (6th/6th). A lot of restaurants/bars come and go here and the common theme seems to be how lackadaisical the staff are. Yeah, there’s a lot of turnover and damn little enthusiasm for the low wages offered, but it’s a job, folks. Can you say ‘propinas’?…tips, en espanol and maybe by…ah, forget it..
And I STILL don’t get it how the Choco Museo keeps on doin’ biz…people in there, churning around…how do they do it?
and the Seg Way People…call themselves the Green Belly people…can they actually get a foothold here? those things aren’t cheap(to purchase)and I’m trying to think of where they actually caught on..
And i missed the Miss Antigua Beauty Pageant last night..the actual winner will be picked in a few weeks. Didn’t they know that I have experience being a judge? I do, I do…would I lie about this?
and yes, the trip to Salama is shaping up, one day at a time…as I may have mentioned, I’ve found a bus line that goes there…only problem is…their phone number doesn’t work..it’s in Zone One, somewhere..I’ve got it written down, somewhere
