and a dearth of customers, except perhaps for Fusion now energized by that bunny, Carla B….%$#@! amazing what a smile and enthusiasm will do for a business, eh? That, and the Choco Museo across the street…they’ve got people paying to get in! I thought, so to speak, about a year ago, that they were doomed (wrong again, Botran-breath).
Rafa’s Bistro, gone…Las Margaritas, across the street, shuttered, that French restaurant, Fleur de Lice..no, Lys..spel chuk…gone-zo, There’s just too many bars/restaurants in this town and and too few customers, unless you’re McD or Burger King or an ice cream store…How does Mango Verde, the smoothy store on 5th calle, keep on going?
and the new Segue Way biz? doomed…even Freddy’s Scooters, with a better concept, isn’t working…I’m sorry to see the departure of the City Bus Tour…I knew it in it’s first incarnation and then when they restarted, with more $$d/people, I wished…etc…I took the tour twice and totally loved it…alas..
So, mid-week at the oasis..Tue-Thu is a dead zone for tourists, except for the above…if there’s six customers in any of the established places, they’re lucky…and where the hell is the Marvelous Marvel? has she left Lava for greener pastures or been asked to leave? I’d call her a ‘turnover’ but that’s either personal or sexist and you know that I don’t ‘go there’…and where’s Hector? damn, he’d sold/bailed at just the right time, like Marcel bailing from El Cazadore…
So, we’ve got Antigua’s ‘Birthday/Patron Saint’ and all that coming soon, to a town near you…the 25th but you know there’ll be some serious hoopla before that…speaking of hoopla, Dr J is suggesting wet T-shirt contests….I’m still a fan of tuk-tuk races, chocolate wrestling and staged shoot-outs between the PNC and Narcos.
ok, back to my cave..the week end is almost here..rest up and go forth tomorrow.
