I’m abstainin’ from going to town tonight for the Halloween madness…I’ve watched it grow larger (in Antigua) year by year and I like it…but there’s just too many zombies already. The Tropicana and Jungle Party launched their events early, the better to capture the crowd. They’ve both got the concept about providing a perfect mouse trap by offering food, booze and ambience. The guests don’t have to go out and the $$ stays in-house. Simple, eh? no..smart
The event of the year? might have been the Maximon/Restaurant El Cerro San Christobal this week, up the hill at Frank’s Place…7 or 8 bands/musical groups, every other person in Antigua there, free booze for several hours and a spectacular location and two shuttles…I hope it works, at least as a wedding/event place, as there’s no better view and more.
The Exit Inn is carving out a dedicated following…at the expense, of course, of other bars..good location, great food and good people…Ocelot, now the Ocelot Welsh Tavern I think, is going all out for decoration (check Steve Wintershaw’s latest) one of his best..Dylan Thomas, etc..
and yes, I’m gradually regaining my equilibrium after the non/events of Salama II a few weeks ago..I may start writing about it or the Zacapa thing, once I’ve gotten over the memories and the $$$ that I spent, for zip, zilch and nada…and as Ronnie Reagan once said, about a big pile of horseshit, that there had to be a pony in there..so, tomorrow is All Saints Day/Day of the Dead and the Sumpongo Kite Festival.if you go, watch for pick-pockets, ok? and if you’re out tonight, late and drunko, watch for the same, if not worse as in getting rolled. Your costume acts as a beacon to the bad boys.
