south 5th calle, from the park to Santa Lucia? they’re adding a second trench now…why? the merchants are a bit peeved, the dust flies and traffic? o yeah…what traffic? this may be one of the more monumental f….screw ups in recent Antigua history, with the processions starting soon,. followed by Holy What the Hell Week…
ah yes, the volcanic stuff…the dust, the grit and the mess…that’s gonna be with us for a while, unless we get an early rain or two…the accumulation on my covered patio is significant…Jackson, recently over a bronchial infection, is hacking..he and Piano Mike are doing a rare duet at the Exit inn this Saturday, assuming that we’re all still breathing then…here’s a little vignette..
http://www.examiner.com/article/the-volcano-they-call-fuego and yes…what next? earthquakes, locusts, credit cards denied?
Has the Green Belly aka the Segway biz finally bit the dust? no more roving ambassadors of ‘look, see how easy it is’ and there’s a lone model on 5th ave, norte, in the Solis Photo shop..even Freddy’s Scooters, which might have had a shot at working? ain’t…one look at the cobblestones and even the most daring tourist is going…’not me, dude.’
so? yeah, about and out for a while…it’s not, for me, anyway, about who to see but who to avoid these days. Not that I’m hiding, it’s just that some of the current crop of visitors don’t bring anything to the table except inane conversations, if you could call them that..Ponzi Bob is back from a week at the Lake, San Pedro La Laguna, where he has a condo for the season…yeah, I’ve got an invite…between that and San Marcos, it’s a little too New Agey for me…Om!
and, as I observed to Jackson earlier, how the hell that the Choco Museo is still going strong, drawing nightly crowds, is beyond me, as are a lot of other things.
so, it’s ashes to ashes, dust to dust..but I did get one thing accomplished today…honey-mustard salad dressing! hey, it’s my life, ok? Wednesday, off to Copia Fiel with the updated Our Man manuscript, for another 25 copies around town, the week after..yeah, I know…a dime here, a dime there and pretty soon I’ve accumulated 50c…coming this weekend, starting Friday, is the opening play of ‘the Good Doctor’, as presented by a our resident empresario, Robert the Prince of a Good Guy…no, I don’t have the start times but there are posters all over town…what am I, The Shell Answer Man? I’m in, for one of the nights, so maybe we’ll see you there…and don’t fall in the f……king trench, ok?
