by the dawn’s early light….and what a picture perfect day weather-wise, after all the latest windy cool mornings/nights. Thankfully the compound where I live has been downing/cutting up a lot of cheap wood, otherwise I might have had to find a couple of fat girls to keep me warm (the wood is cheaper).
Mu Lan, the new chinese restaurant on 5th calle, #4? great food! some mixed reviews but all agree on one thing….their varieties of fried rice dishes are perfect and now they have two motos for delivery. If you do take-out, as I did, know that the dishes are huge….I got six servings of fried rice, for example…beware the price of the tea, btw..
Mamma’s closed, awaiting their reincarnation (where you come back as a flower), but judging from the amount of renovation and the glacial pace of the workers, it may well be Semana Satan before Mayra opens the doors…soth 5th ave, #12 or so
and yes, the American Legion library is still looking for a new home…the estate has granted another 2 weeks (mid Feb) for the Bavarian to move out…look, all the library, some 40 thousand books, mostly paperbacks, needs about 300 sq ft…somewhere within walking distance of Central park, porfa…contact Bill Shetz, El Comandante. at 5788-3432 or americanlegion2@gmail.com Pleese!
seems like the Londoner, the latest, is booking more music these days…good, another venue…and I like Shaun’s Bulls Eye Tavern….Lava, upstairs, is still kicking ass on the weekends. For something tasty, try Sobremesa’s week end brunches…Alex, as usual , comes up with the most amazing combinations of flavors/ingredients. Marcel, of Michos, says that his bad ass Chevy is now road legal.
hey, it’s Antigua! those two connected bars on 6th calle, one medium size, the other small, supposedly ousted by the landlord?….well…supposedly to be ‘revitalized.’ unquote. And yes, if it’s possible, more horror stories from the private hospital, Hermano Pedro, compliments of the Pancheri’s…and yes, Judy is doing much better, as am I….Sam R and his traveling buddy, just back from Nicaragua…had a great time and he wants to go back…that’s a clue, right?
the very tasty Marbel, with her Descuentos booklets, has kicked it up a notch or two…inserts in the newspapers and a different marketing twist…I like it, hope it works.
